Habemus Director del MET.
A prori excelente elección.
We are delighted to announce that Yannick Nézet-Séguin has been named the Metropolitan Opera's new Music Director. Since his 2009 Met debut conducting Bizet's Carmen, Nézet-Séguin has led acclaimed runs of Verdi's Don Carlo, Dvořák's Rusalka, and Verdi's Otello, among others. The maestro, who is just the third Music Director in Met history, calls his appointment, "the fulfillment of a lifelong dream."
Nézet-Séguin succeeds James Levine, who, after an unparalleled 40 years in the position of Music Director, stepped down at the end of the 2015-16 season to become the company's first Music Director Emeritus.
Nézet-Séguin, who will assume the interim title of Music Director Designate in the 2017-18 season, will assume full Music Director responsibilities in the 2020-21 season, though he will be involved in artistic planning immediately. Next season, he will conduct his first Wagner opera with the company, a revival of Der Fliegende Holländer.
We hope you will join us in welcoming Maestro Nézet-Séguin to his new position.
