Sills fittingly ends her last public vocal performance by
singing the "Portuguese Folk Song" that Estelle Liebling,
her only voice teacher, gave her when she was ten. As a
tribute to Liebling, Sills ended every recital with this song.
Her long-time accompanist, Charles Wadsworth, plays for
this final, moving performance.

These are audio excerpts from interviews with
Beverly Sills on various radio and TV programs,
including recital and radio broadcast intermissions.
November 19, 1939
1. Major Bowes Capital Family Hour
broadcast from the Capital Theater Building in New York City:
Verdi: Rigoletto - "Caro Nome" with Waldo Mayo & the Capital
Radio Orchestra.
Sills' first appearance on the variety, after winning the Major
Bowes Amateur Hour three weeks earlier. This particular show
was the 17th anniversary of the Capital Family Hour. Bowes
asks her about her grades, her teacher and how many arias
she knows.

embellishments, her first recital LP, her "overnight"

Five seasonal selections that Sills recorded in 1955 at age 26.
The one-sided 10-inch LP was a promotional gift from the
architectural firm Fordyce and Hamby. The LP was titled
"Beverly Sills sings songs for Christmas 1955." The piano/organ
accompanist is unidentified.
9 Jingle Bells (ultra rare)
Here is true rarity - Sills singing after her official retirement.
The occasion was a televised "In Performance at the White House"
on Dec. 20, 1981. Sills was the host for the concert featuring
eight young singers from the New York City Opera. At the end of
the program, President Ronald Reagan asked Sills to lead a round
of holiday carols, acknowledging that she was officially retired
from her singing career. Sills graciously accepted and began the
caroling by singing two verses of "Jingle Bells."
