Miss sopranino, Natalie Dessay, has no voice for Manon. In Barcelona it was better, but then it Inva Mula was more convincing ...
I understand that she enjoys sympathy in this forum, but her choice of repertoire=absurd.
Romeo et Juliette with Ciofi I've heard in Marseille in October, Les Pecheurs (with Calleja) and January 22 Tancredi in Berlin. I have not heard the ruins of the instrument. Her Amenaide was absolutely magnificent. But I heard Dessay in Aix (La Traviata) and Paris (Sonnambula, Manon), and it is a vocal disaster. And her lack of musicality of Ciofi. Ciofi chiaroscuro art is wonderful, her legato, her interpretation of the text...
I heard Juliette of Ciofi from Bilbao in the recording of "live". I hear there good singing and great commitment.
I understand that you simply do not like Ciofi. But if you think that in Bilbao Ciofi's voice was in ruins what could be said for Dessay in Manon?!
